Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation Review

Rimmel London - Wake me Up Foundation Approx $20

During one of my recent Priceline expedition I picked up the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation. When I bought the foundation, I hadn't heard much about the product so I was really excited to test it out!

Anyone that knows me, will tell you I love to sleep, however, just like anyone, I don't always get enough of it The concept of a foundation that will make me look awake seemed perfect.

To start with the packing is adorable, I love it. The organe pump and lid make it a cute compact product to add to your collection.

The Foundation comes out fairly generously, and you can see a slight shimmer in the foundation. I got the color 103 True Ivory which for my skintone is fantastic. It gives my skin a nice color but doesn't look like I've spent an afternoon with the guys from Jersey Shore.

The Foundation gives fantastic coverage and really evens out my skintone. It buffs into the skin nicely which is something I look for in my foundation choice.  I was worried that the shimmer could potentially bring out flaws that I have but it really masks them well, which impressed me.

I really do enjoy this foundation, however, it comes down to this. To use it everyday can be a smidge excessive due to the sparkle. I feel as though when I step outside, I don an Edward Cullen-esq shimmer that really isn't a look I like to embrace. If you use a light transclucent powder over the top, it reduces the shimmer  but you lose the dewy effect, so I suggest if you are going to spending a good portion of your day outside in the sun, perhaps this isnt the appropriate foundation for you.

As you may or may not know I am actually a singer, I gig around Sydney and NSW. I have noticed, this foundation is perfect for stage. Under the stage lights the shimmer does not come across as a shimmer but more of a dewy glow which is really pretty and perfect. It is long wearing and doesn't sweat off wihch is great when I'm doing an hour (plus) show. There is nothing worse than your foundation sweating off. I imagine the foundation would have the same effect when clubbing or anytime you will be under lights.

So to wrap things up. I think for the right event the Foundation is fantastic. I'm not sure how 'awake' it makes me look but I know it gives fantastic coverage and under the right circumstances makes your skin glow. I will definately be trying more of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Range in the future.

Thanks so much for reading, as I have said before, this is really just my opinion. I would love to know if anyone else has tried this and their thoughts.

Until Next Time.

Almay Smart Shade Primer Review

Almay Smart Shade Primer (And my Hand)
One of the very first things I learnt about makeup is that for my skin, I HAVE to prime.  It goes deeper than Napoleon Perdis’ statement ‘To not prime is a crime!’ If I don’t prime, the makeup will run, go streaky and come off by the end of the working day, which is never a good look!

I recently purchased the Almay Smart Shade Primer. It is said to even out skin tone and (as the name suggests) prime the skin. Here are my thoughts on the product

To begin with, I really like the packing. I think the helix design is unique and makes the product really stand out on the shelf. I’m not the biggest fan of the plastic tube, Especially plastic like this as it tends to cheapen the look of the product, having said that, it makes it easy to use it while traveling.

The pump disperses a good amount and the colors really mix well together once out of the tube.

When its on your hand or brush, The first thing you notice about the serum is the smell!. It smells terrible! It is a mixture between out of date - something and vomit. Considering you apply this product to your face, the smell is not really ideal.

The serum is quite light and blends out easily, however, I don’t think it does a lot to change my skin tone which is one of its features. Normally using a green/purple based conceler/primer will remove some of the redness in my skin but as this product is so thin, it really doesn’t achieve this.

When applying foundation on the top, again, I don’t notice a big difference. It has the same affect as applying moisturizer directly under my foundation rather than a primer.

All and all, I think the Almay Smart Shade Primer has been a big miss for me. I can’t think of a situation where it would be suitable, but this is just my opinion and how the product worked for me.

Has anyone had a better experience with this product? I would love to hear your thoughts

Australis - Nail Polish Review!

Australis Nail Color - Intense Colour with High Shine & Streak Free

I recently posted this picture on my Instagram, and received some lovely compliments on the color, so thought I would review the polish for you.

Let me just put it out there and say it… I love Australis Products. I think they offer great quality, while staying affordable – which is something I think is fantastic.

I've had this polish for a while (It was actually a Christmas gift) However, I still really love the color. This is in the color 51059 Peek-a-boo, The purple is the perfect shade for the current gelato/pastel colors that are huge at the moment.

The polish applies so well, you really only need 2 coats and could get away with one if you were in a rush. I apply a top coat, but its purely to seal the color. It gives a lovely shine just by itself.

I was skeptical at first as it claims to be ‘streak free’ but somehow, in the drying process it just mixes together and gives you a nice professional looking finish. It is a perfect consistency also, which is something I look for in my nail polishes.

The brush is a fantastic size and really allows the polish to spread evenly. The packaging is just your average nail polish bottle, but lets be real here – you don’t really need a fancy bottle if the product is amazing.

I love this color – I am going to be so sad when it runs out, but I definitely look forward to trying more Australis Nail Polishes.

Thanks for reading!

Chanel Eau Douceur Cleansing Water Review

Chanel Eau Douceur - Costs Around $63

If you have watched my YouTube Channel you will see I am currently in love with the Chanel Eau Doucur Cleansing Water aka fancy Makeup Remover. So much so, I have decided to do a review here on my blog rather than just mentioning it as part of a video.

I was initially skeptical about spending so much money on a makeup remover however, the ever so charming man at Chanel had me wrapped tightly around his little finger.

It comes in 150ml container which lasts a long time. However, for the the price, and brand expectation the packing is a smidgen cheap looking (This could just be me bring pretentious)

The pump is a good size and the actual product smells lovely. It wipes on easily and simply absorbs into the skin while your makeup comes off.

There are times I have to wear makeup that is extremely heavy and this really gets this off with out making too much of a mess, both on my skin and on the makeup pad. I use 2 round makeup pads, one for my face and neck and one for my eyes. On days I don't have much makeup on at all I just use the one pad. It actually amazed me how far the product spreads.

It leaves my skin feeling moisturized and fresh which I love. I find some makeup removers dry out your skin and leave a tingly feeling but this is the total opposite of that. It hydrates and really cleans your face as well as removing any makeup you may be wearing.

I love this product, I will definately re-purchase this. Even though it is expensive, I definately think its a fantastic investment for your skincare routine.

What are some makeup removers you like?

Also, to say thanks for reading, I am putting together a giveaway for my 20th post, so stay tuned!

Tight-Ass Tuesday - Essence Soft Touch Mousse Makeup

I hope you are all having a fantastic week! I have just started a brand new job so my apologies for the lack of blog love. I am nicely settled in so I promise I will be back to my regular daily posts as of today!

But onto something far more exciting than my excuses for missing days. It's Tight-Ass Tuesday!

Approx $8 at Target

I recently picked up this Mousse foundation from Target for around $8. I had heard some good things about the brand Essence so I was really excited to try it out.

I love Mousse Foundation, I find it to be super moisturizing for my skin and really blends in nicely while giving a nice coverage.

The Mousse is super light and fluffy and applies really well. It has fantastic staying power and doesn't go patchy which is something I look for in a foundation.

I love this product, I have had it for about a month now, and I am almost out, so a trip to Target to get more is definately on the cards for me this weekend!

Essence have some fantastic products and their line is extremely affordable so I suggest you check them out!

What are your thoughts on Mousse Foundation?

Innoxia Lipstick Review

Innoxia - Waterlily

I was recently going through my makeup collection and I cam across this lipstick. I vaguely remember getting it as part of a priceline offer late last year. (Remember that offer… Spend a certain amount and win a bag of goodies in a snake print bag?)

I am rambling and the moral of the story is, I have found it once again and I’m not going to lie, I think its love.

I have never tried the brand Innoxia before but the quality is really good. The pigmentation of this lipstick is fantastic, and it is extremely moisturizing.

This color changes depending on the light!
I have the color Waterlily which as a color is hard to describe as it has so many undertones t I guess you could say it’s an apricot (ish) color with pink, brown and a hint of gold undertones.

The thing that impresses me most about this lipstick is the staying power. It stays for at least 4 hours which for me is a big deal as lipsticks don’t usually last for me.

I cannot speak highly enough of this lipstick! The color is great, the packing is great and the staying power is AMAZING! I will definitely be heading to priceline this weekend to find some more products.

Fabienne Jewellery!

Up until last week I used to work for a Fashion Magazine called Ragtrader which meant I got to deal with brands that are amazing, but haven't yet become a household name.

During my time there I fell in love with a jewellery brand called 'Fabienne'. Their pieces are so wearable and on trend, I just love them.

Tree Necklace in Gold and Silver - I love them!!

I fell in love with their tree style necklace, and I was fortunate enough to receive 2 - One in a gold/copper color and one in silver.

I absolutley adore the tree design and the chain is super long so its a nice statement necklace. Each time I wear the silver one (I haven't wore the gold one yet) I get lovely compliments as it wears really nicely and has a nice shine to it.

If you like their stuff you should definitely check out their website www.fabienne.com.au I should mention at this point, I am in no way affiliated with fabienne, nor am I being paid for this post, I just love their stuff and want to share the love.

What are some brands you are loving?

Tight-Ass Tuesday - Australis Lip Butter

For this installment of Tight-ass Tuesday, I thought I would talk about a lip product. Lips are one of the first things i notice on a person, so I always try and make sure my lips are looking good.

Australia Lip Butter - Ringa Rosey

I recently found this lip butter from Australis. As they are celebrating 25years, Priceline has a 25% off sale on the entire Australia range.

As a result of the sale, it cost around $3 but when not on sale it retails for about $5 so its still well within the Tight Ass Tuesday guidelines.

I got the color Ringa Rosy which is a nice subtle pink. It is not super pigmented, however it's extremely moisturizing which is something I look for in a lip butter. I also hate when you use your finger to apply a gloss and it's so pigmented you are left with a messy finger so this product is ideal for me.

I absolutely adore the packing, I think it's so cute. There is a small display mirror on the inside of the lid, which I love also. I think the concept of the ball like container is fun and it's easy to open and get the product.

I love this product, I will definitely be popping along to Priceline soon to check out some different colors.

Has anyone tried any of the other colors that they recommend?

NOTD - Hot Pink!

If you have read my blog or seen my youtube videos you will see I am currently a massive fan of all the colors that are around for spring and summer. As it was officially the start of Spring yesterday,  I decided to embrace a spring nail.

Loving a bright statement nail!

I am loving neon/fluro colors and pink is a nice subtle (as subtle as neon can get) option when choosing a fluro color.

This polish is the color 9155 by the brand Miki. Unfortunately, I don’t know where to buy this polish as it was given to me as a gift.

It applies really well, and it’s a nice consistency. I have wore this polish before and the staying power is fantastic.

What colors are you loving for Spring and Summer?

Nail Polish Review - Revlon Top Speed, 'Cloud'

Pinch and a punch for the first of the month – Happy Spring!

For spring I am loving all the pastel colors that are on trend, So when I was shopping and found this beautiful mauve nail polish I knew I had to have it!

Now, call me a princess if you will, but I have only just started doing my nails myself. I have always either had acrylic nails that I would just let them paint, or more recently shellac.

As I have decided to don more of a natural approach I am letting them grow naturally, and so far I’m fairly happy with the result.

Revlon Top Speed - Color 710 Cloud
I recently picked up this Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish in the color 710 Cloud. I haven’t really used Revlon Nail Polish in the past, so thought I would check it out. It was on sale at Cosmetic Fragrance Direct for only $5

Unfortunately, the polish itself isn’t fantastic. When I tried it in store, I had a nude color on my nails and the mauve looked great! However, when I put it on at home over my base coat it was thin and just odd.

Ignore the skin :)

It is extremely watery and is so difficult to get a nice even finish.

In the end I applied a nude French pink to my nail and put the mauve over the top (I was determined) The color was much better and gave a thicker appearance.

Finish Product with China Glaze Top Coat on top.
Even though I adore the color, I won’t be using this product in a hurry again. Its so much effort for something that is supposed to be an enjoyable task.

Has anyone else had the same experience with the Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish?
